Japanese Caligraphy

Materials:

* templates
* black paint
* paintbrush (about 1 cm wide and ½ cm thick (½ inch by 1/4 inch)
* large piece of paper
* VARIATION: use a felt pen or even a calligraphy pen instead of the paint

Instructions:

1. According to the samples shown, draw each number. Follow the directions of the arrows as well as the order of the steps for best results.
2. Let the paint dry.
3. Practice saying the numbers in Japanese:

one = ichi (ee chee)
two = ni (nee)
three = san (san)
four = shi (shee)
five = go (go)
